Learning to play piano presents a fantastic way to explore elements of music including melody, harmony, rhythm, dynamics, and touch. The layout of the keyboard itself gives clues as to how notes are grouped into scales, and how scales of notes are related to each other. As soon as we sit to play, we can make a sound, we can play notes separately and together, loudly and softly. Today, there is a wide variety of approaches to studying piano designed for people of all ages and backgrounds.
